We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and support of sailing sports.
The “2022 Hansa Class Asia Pacific Championships & Para World Sailing Championships Hansa Class in Hiroshima,” jointly staged by World Sailing, the International Hansa Class Association, and the Japan Hansa Class Association, will be simultaneously held at the Hiroshima Kanon Marina, to commemorate completion of the Marina Center (provisional name), from October 20 to October 23, 2022.
Situated midway between Hiroshima’s two World Heritage Sites of the Atomic Bomb Dome and Itsukushima Shrine, the Marina Center will be completed in September as a hub for disseminating a wide range of marine sports and thereby helping to promote a more inclusive society.
The Hansa Class Asia Pacific Championships gives both para sailors and non-disabled sailors the opportunity to compete against each other under the same rules, while the Para World Sailing Championships Hansa Class is an international tournament open only to para sailors.
These two championships will attract some 120 competitors and 200 supporters and volunteers from more than 10 countries. Dynamic images of the sailors competing against the scenic backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea with its scattered islets and islands will be streamed all over the world via the Internet.
Para sailing, which utilizes the natural power of wind, has become a “new sporting force” in helping to create an inclusive society. Building an inclusive society in which diversity is mutually recognized is key to creating a peaceful world free of war.
By jointly staging these two international championships in the city of Hiroshima, which is dedicated to worldwide peace, and streaming them around the world, we believe that courage and dreams will be imparted to people as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and embark on a new era.
We look forward to receiving your warm support.
